Inulin and FructoOligoSaccharides (FOS) are soluble fibers found in an array of plant foods, including chicory, onions, asparagus and bananas. These fibers promote gut and overall health through their fermentation by gut flora, primarily in the colon, to yield important metabolites, including lactic acid and the short chain fatty acids acetate, propionate and butyrate.
