Astragalus is one of the most important restorative tonic herbs in Chinese medicine. Classically, the plant is used to strengthen a person's protective energy (Chi). Today, astragalus has been used to help support normal healthy immune functions to increase resistance. Astragalus contains active ingredients called polysaccharides which research suggests are responsible for the beneficial effects this herb has on the body.
