St. John's Wort is a perennial native to Europe and the United States. The plant has traditionally been used for its anti-inflammatory effects and healing properties since the Middle Ages. A predominant amount of research has been done on the plant's active constituent hypericin. That research is suggesting that St. John's Wort may be helpful in maintaining balanced mood levels.
