Each capsule delivers 550 mg of purple corn extract — one of the most concentrated natural sources of antioxidants — standardized to contain 5% anthocyanins, including naturally occurring cyanidin 3-0-β-glucoside (C3G).

Purple corn has been consumed by the people of the Peruvian Andes for thousands of years. Recent investigations have discovered the deep purple kernels of this plant are rich in phenols called anthocyanins — the same antioxidant pigments that give blueberries their high ORAC (oxygen radical absorbance capacity) score. In fact, a comparative study found that the anthocyanin content of whole purple corn is over four times that of blueberries.

The most abundant anthocyanin in purple corn is naturally occurring C3G. Of 12 anthocyanins tested for antioxidant activity, C3G was the most powerful.

C3G has been shown to lessen oxidative stress to the liver. It has also been demonstrated to keep proinflammatory cytokines in check. Because it neutralizes free radicals, C3G additionally decreases the susceptibility of serum lipids to oxidation, supporting the health of the arteries. Finally, research has shown that C3G helps prevent excess weight gain, supporting healthy insulin signaling and pancreatic β-cell function.
